Interview With Aquarius tha Turquoise

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: I’ve always operated entirely outside the conventional lines. Growing up, I had my own distinct routes and routines; my approach to life was often seen as abstract or even unheard of by those around me. I possessed this deeply unconventional lens through which I viewed the world from a very early age. Now, I am actively translating that abstract perspective into my sonic landscape. It is what creates the distinct, unapologetic novelty of my sound today.

Q: Can you describe the musical style of Aquarius tha Turquoise in three words?

A: Intense, Enlightening, and Nostalgic.

Q: How do you stay connected with your fans, and what role do they play in shaping your musical journey?

A: I connect with my listeners by provoking a deeply nostalgic atmosphere intertwined with intellectual introspection. When you hear my music, I want you to experience a visceral surge, a sensation that the music is physically moving through you. It is paramount that my work remains highly relatable. I take the complex emotions people navigate daily and articulate them into a tangible piece of audio artwork. My fans shape my career by adopting my music as their own personal forum of expression. They can play a track, point to it, and say, “This exact sound is exactly how I am feeling.”

Q: You have just released your new EP, ‘Nuances of a Nuisance’. Is there a story behind it?

A: The story behind Nuances of a Nuisance is essentially a sound anthology of the intense personal experiences I navigated over the past year. Creating this EP was a profoundly therapeutic process; it allowed me to take a chaotic influx of emotions and channel them into an emotional, tangible art form that others could grasp and find solace in. Each of the four tracks was recorded during different pivotal moments in 2025, meaning every song captures a completely distinct emotional state from that era. It was a turbulent, emotional year for many people, and I believe that raw, unapologetic expression is impeccably conveyed throughout the entirety of the project.

Q: What is your favorite track from the EP and why?

A: That is a fantastic question. I would have to say my personal favorite is “Too Far Gone.” I wrote that track while carrying the heavy, overwhelming emotional weight of a past relationship. My ex and I were struggling to find a middle ground when it came to communication and balancing our feelings, making this a true coming-of-age song for me. Unconsciously, I knew how heavily the on-and-off nature of that dynamic was affecting me, but I didn’t know how to properly articulate it in conversation. The song became the vessel for all those tangled, unspoken emotions, beautifully capturing the endless, cyclical frustration of loving someone from your past while recognizing the reality of the situation.

Q: Can you walk us through the creative process of producing the EP, “Nuances of a Nuisance”?

A: Nuances of a Nuisance is a collection of tracks born from different seasonal shifts and transitional periods in my life over the past year. The initial spark always came from profound inspirational moments that translated directly into raw, unfiltered vocalizations on the mic. From there, the most crucial and initially challenging part of the journey was building an efficient, collaborative team. Because this is my debut EP, finding the right sound engineers and mastering mixers who could take my raw emotional vocal takes and elevate them into a polished piece of art was paramount. Once I found a team that truly understood the internal vision of my mind, the process became incredibly rewarding. We connected on a deeper level, which allowed us to collaboratively forge an undeniable, cohesive piece of art.

Q: What has been the most memorable concert or performance for Aquarius tha Turquoise so far?

A: While my catalog of live performances is still growing, one of my most memorable nights was an set at a local bar. It was an incredibly vibrant, carefree atmosphere. The crowd was just enjoying their drinks, living in the moment, and fully receptive to the experience. There was an abundance of laughter, deep socialization, and a genuine, organic connection over the music. It stands out to me because it was such a raw, intimate setting where I could directly witness the audience embracing the unique nature of my sound in real-time.

Q: Reflecting on your body of work, each song holding its unique significance, could you share a particular track that stands out to you personally? What makes that specific tune special, and why does it hold a place of pride in your musical journey?

A: The track that undoubtedly stands out the most is “Sexedelics.” It holds a tremendous amount of pride for me because of its sporadic, unapologetic novelty. The concept was to sonically embody the intersection of intimacy, sex, and psychedelics. Through the production, you actually get a vivid, visual representation of those themes translated entirely into sound. It holds a completely unique placement in my discography, especially the ending, which is beautifully chaotic and all over the place, yet coalesces into a stunning piece of art. I deeply appreciate this track because it showcases my artistic range and proves I am delivering much more than standard vocal performances.

Q: Exploring the diverse creative processes within the music industry is always fascinating. Could you provide insight into Aquarius tha Turquoise’s unique approach to crafting music? From the initial spark of an idea to the finished song, how do you navigate the creative journey and bring its musical concepts to life?

A: My creative process is entirely emotionally driven. It begins with capturing the fleeting, complex feelings that arise at specific moments and finding the most authentic way to articulate them. The most vital aspect of my approach is ensuring that before the listener even engages with the lyrics intellectually, they are physically pulled in by the atmosphere. Music is not just a form of expression; it is an immersive art form. I navigate the journey from concept to finished track by ensuring the raw feeling remains intact, forcing the listener to gravitate towards the visceral gravity of the sound first and foremost.

Q: As we wrap up our conversation, looking ahead, what aspirations or dreams do you have, and what message would you like to share with your fans as they continue to accompany you on this musical journey?

A: My ultimate aspiration is for this music to travel far and reach the exact people who need that extra avenue of expression. I want to inject a new level of diversity into the industry and cultivate a community of like-minded, abstract, and intellectual thinkers who appreciate unprecedented sounds. I am not just telling my own story; I am narrating the collective experiences of many who just need a piece of art to validate their reality. As my fans accompany me on this journey, I hope we can collectively elevate human consciousness, encouraging people to feel more deeply, connect more authentically, and ultimately inspire others to boldly embrace the novelty within their own art and lives.
