Conversation With Mr.Reaper

Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?

A: Thanks for having me for this interview. Im from Woodbridge, VA. I was inspired to write music from my rap idols, Bone Thugs – N- Harmony, at thirteen years of age. I had practiced rapping/writing music and haven’t looked back.

Q: Did you have any formal training, or are you self-taught?

A: I am self-taught. It took a while for me to find my own rhythm and groove to how I wanted to perform on a track.

Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences?

A: BoneThugs – N – Harmony, Twista, Tech N9ne were my main influencers.

Q: You have just released your new single, ‘Ballad of the Reaper’. Is there a story behind it?

A: Ballad Of The Reaper talks about letting go of all doubts, fears, and challenges presented to me. I have been rapping for a long while. Unfortunately, it has taken me a while to come out to the public. I recently came out publicly in 2020 with my EP, “Reapercussions.” I wanted to talk about my story of how im closer to my goals in music. How the time is right for me to be known on center stage and to let all listener/viewers see my talent and who I am as an artist.

Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?

A: Yes. Right now, I am focusing on an EP for late 2023. I dont have a specific title for the EP at this moment.

Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?

A: My main focus with my music is to establish a relationship between songwriter and listener. I want the audience to feel what I put in my music as well as me understanding the audience in how they relate to it. Its like being a voice to them as well as myself. If I can have a different person like a different song of mine. Then, I feel I accomplished my goal of being versatile to listeners. With this in mind, I want to stand out from the rest of the crowd. That way, you know I came to bring it.

In regards to my musical sound. I have a confident, creative, catchy, smooth, and deep flow that will make you think and get you hooked to it with my rhythmic tones and lyrical abilities.

Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it, or are you expecting something more?

A: I feel content with the results. But I would measure that on how much I intend to market a single, ep, or album.

Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?

A: First and foremost. I listen carefully to the instruments utilized in the beat. I try to become one with the beat by adapting my music to the rhythm, mood, and message I claim to hear from the beat.

Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?

A: Promoting and balancing the funds to create music. Marketing is the biggest challenge. Finding the right people to promote your music is difficult. As an artist, it is hard to do everything by yourself.

Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?

A: Gaining tons of fans and getting their feedback is a definite win. It’s nice to get charted, have a million streams, and win a couple of contests and such, but the biggest joy I get is when someone appreciates the music and/or performance I bring to the track. To get the recognition and display of my name appearing on a channel, station and etc., is the greatest feeling.
