Conversation With Gold

Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?

A: I’m from Rogers Park, a neighborhood on the north side of Chicago. Where I’m from you can get the best/worst of both worlds in terms of the environment. There’s a divide between the hood and where it’s “good” but I’ve pulled inspiration from both because the world needs balance. I’ve always loved music but as I got older I started to understand that I wanted to get paid to do what I love and to travel and share my art with the world on a bigger scale. That’s when things changed for me.

Q: Did you have any formal training, or are you self-taught?

A: Everything I know about music came from experience. A lot of what I learned came from trial and error.

Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences, and why the name ‘Gold’?

A: My strongest musical influence was Chris Brown. As an artist and a creative, he defined authentic artistic expression. Through art, music, choreography, film, fashion, and sports he dominates everything and that’s inspiring to me.

 “Generation Of Leaders Discovered”

I’ve always been a light to people. Always felt like the value I carry is meant to uplift and inspire others to see the light in themselves.

Q: You have just released your new single, ‘Not Myself. Is there a story behind it?

A: I felt like being vulnerable was an excellent opportunity to let my audience into my world so they can feel more connected to me and the experience I’m creating.

Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?

A: Yes, my album “Venus In Taurus” will be released in 2023.

Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?

A: The key element in my music that should resonate with my audience is to be unapologetically you. I want my audience to embrace every aspect of themselves and truly unlock their potential and go for what they desire. I would personally describe my music to be an immersive experience. My signature sound, a fusion of Hip-hop, R&B, and EDM sets the tone for my versatility. There are other pockets I can tap into because I’m always experimenting and evolving as an artist, I’m unpredictable.

Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it or are you expecting something more?

A: I have moments when the accomplishments come in and it feels like things are finally paying off but I need more. It’s less about proving others wrong and more about proving myself right and opening up doors for people and putting them in a position to win. That’s the Dream

Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?

A: My creative process usually begins as references on my phone. If I have a melody in mind I’ll record it on “band lab” and mix the vocals. I add different layers and ideas to it and I take out what doesn’t belong and focus on what does before I take it to the studio.

Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?

A: The most difficult thing I’ve had to endure is making sure my music is easily searchable having everything in one place is super important and I had to learn that the hard way.

Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud, or significant point in your life or music career so far?

A: Where do I start? As of December 5, 2022, The NBA’s Denver Nuggets used my track “No Stoppin” for their season walkout song. I have a billboard Dance article with JOYRYDE, and I’m the founder of my company Trust The Dream, an entertainment& multimedia company specializing in giving creatives greater visibility and a platform to turn their dreams into a career.
