cedar just dropped their new single “If I Knew” and it sticks pretty quickly. The track leans into that darker and heavier space they’ve been circling, but it doesn’t feel overdone or forced. The track kind of drifts at first with these layered guitars that feel soft and hazy, then suddenly the chorus hits harder than you expect. Not in a chaotic way, just enough bite to wake you up. It’s a nice balance. The quiet parts don’t feel empty and the louder moments don’t lose control.
The vocals sit right in the middle of everything, not too polished, not too messy either. There’s something real in how they’re delivered, especially with the lyrics touching on relationships and that awkward mix of growth and insecurity. It doesn’t feel like they’re trying too hard to be deep which helps a lot.
The production is professional but still keeps that rough edge. You can tell they didn’t smooth everything out completely. The guitars and drums carry a lot of weight here, and honestly, they’re probably the highlight. There’s a fullness to the sound that just clicks.
It’s really one of those tracks that kind of loops in your head after a couple listens without you realizing. We ended up liking this one more than expected. It’s like a band figuring things out in a good way, not chasing a sound but shaping their own. Definitely worth a few spins if you’re into something a bit moody but still easy to get into.
