Sherise is back with her single “Funk Train” and it’s a pretty easy one to get into. Right away, you get hit with that groove. The bassline is punchy, the rhythm is tight and the whole thing is just alive from the start. It doesn’t waste time trying to build up too much, it just gets moving which we liked.
The sound leans into funk-pop with a bit of a retro touch, especially with the synths, but it still feels modern enough. The production is solid and it’s the kind of track you can throw on without thinking and just let it play. Her vocals are another strong point here. Sherise has a nice voice. It’s smooth but still full of energy and it fits the track really well. The way she rides the beat is amazing and the melodies are catchy in a simple way. Nothing too complicated, just easy to remember and easy to vibe with. That’s honestly one of the best things about this track, it doesn’t try too hard.
The track is about letting go and getting into the groove. You can feel that message of just moving forward, shaking off stress, and enjoying the moment. It’s not deep or heavy, but it doesn’t need to be. The whole track is about energy and feeling good and it delivers that without any problem.
We also liked the tempo and how the instrumental is put together. It’s well crafted and easy to listen to and everything sits in the right place. We just discovered Sherise with this release, and yeah, we’ll be keeping an eye on her. There’s real quality here and you can hear the passion behind it too.
