London-born Simone Johnson, aka Monie Love, was featured on Queen Latifah‘s single “Ladies First” while still a teen, she also collaborated with De La Soul and The Jungle Bros with whom she joined the Native Tongue collective along side fellow group A Tribe Called Quest. After Down to Earth, Love issued In a Word or Two, which included production by PRINCE in 1993.
