Luca Ferrabue has released his debut single, “Waiting room” and it’s a very strong first step from a young songwriter who already knows how to get a lot across with his charming voice. I only recently came across Luca’s music and this song was enough to make me want to hear more. There is something special in the way he sings. His voice is full, emotional and powerful, and he doesn’t need to hold back when the chorus arrives.
The song is about a relationship that is slowly coming to an end, and the difficult place of waiting for the other person to finally fight for it. Luca has spoken about wanting someone to make an effort, while knowing that they probably never will. It’s a situation many people can recognise, even if their own story is a little different. The lyrics are honest without making the song too hard to connect with and that openness works well here.
The song also has a much bigger sound than a simple piano ballad. The rich instrumentation gives Luca’s voice so much space to shine and the production is polished and lets the melodies do the job. The chorus is amazing and it’s the part that really stays with us. It has the strength and melody to come back into your head later and the arrangement gives it a great lift without taking attention away from the songwriting.
For a debut, this is a confident introduction. Luca is still at the beginning of his journey, but this single already shows a songwriter with a strong voice, a good sense of melody and so much to say. We only discovered him recently and we’re glad we did. There is real talent here and we’re already looking forward to hearing where he takes things next.
