Larlin – Sondheim

Larlin is back with a new single called “Sondheim” and we’ve been waiting for this one. We’ve followed her music for a while now, covered a few tracks before, and honestly, she never really disappoints. This new one just adds more to why we keep coming back.

The song is a bit different but still very much her. It starts soft and then slowly grows into something bigger and more emotional. The whole thing kind of floats between calm and intense, which fits the theme of the track. From what we get, it’s about feeling disconnected from yourself, like not fully there, and that idea comes through really clearly without being too heavy or confusing.

The lyrics are super catchy but also easy to follow which we like. Her voice, as always, is a big highlight. It’s powerful but still has that soft edge when needed. You can feel the emotion in it, and that makes a big difference. The instrumentation is also worth talking about. It’s rich, full, and has a lot going on, but not in a messy way. The guitars build this dreamy kind of atmosphere, almost shoegaze style, and the production behind it all is clean and professional. Everything sits in the right place and it gives the track a really unique vibe.

We also like how the song doesn’t rush. It takes its time, lets the mood build, and then hits you with those bigger moments. That balance is not easy to get right, but she does it well here. We really enjoyed this one. It’s polished and emotional. Larlin keeps showing why she’s been on our favorite list for so long, and this track just proves it again. We’re definitely sticking with this one for a while.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Formed in Brighton in 2024, Larlin craft emotionally charged alt-rock that sits somewhere between introspection and intensity. Fronted by Sheffield-born songwriter and vocalist Maryann Hoar, the band have quickly built a reputation for pairing melancholic lyricism with expansive, hard-hitting production. Following a standout year on the South Coast circuit, Larlin have packed out venues across Brighton, earning a loyal and growing audience through their immersive, high-energy live shows. That momentum has carried beyond the stage, with support from national and international radio including BBC Introducing and KEXP, alongside coverage from a growing number of tastemaker music blogs. That rise has fed directly into their evolving sound, now leaning further into moody, shoegaze-inspired textures while retaining the hook-driven songwriting and unmistakable vocal delivery at its core. The bandʼs lineup brings together a wealth of production experience, with Lewis Foord (Wet Leg, Kid Kapichi, JADE) and Cameron Nesbitt (Lovejoy, James Marriott, Tom High) shaping a sound that is both sonically rich and emotionally immediate. Restless, atmospheric, and unflinchingly honest, Larlin are carving out a space for music that feels as expansive as it is intimate. Music for overthinkers, turned all the way up.
