Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: I was born in 1987 and actually grew up in poverty in what people would call the hood in Indianapolis Indiana. So gangster rap was my first introduction into music. But my father was a drummer in multiple local bands and because of that I naturally was forced to play drums which made me hate it. He listened to alternative rock and pop punk when I was a kid which is how I found bands like Green Day and Blink 182 and then later on the distillers and rancid.
Q: Can you describe the musical style of Crash & Chaos in three words?
A: Garage Pop Punk
Q: How do you stay connected with your fans, and what role do they play in shaping your musical journey?
A: I engage a lot with fans through my social medias. Whether it’s YouTube or X or instagram, I engage in the comments.
Q: You have just released your new album, ‘Shut Up & Listen’. Is there a story behind it?
A: Most of the songs are real life stories told with a fun attitude. Most of the songs were written about my wife.
Q: What is your favorite track from the album and why?
A: I would have to say Abductions or Chili Mac Supreme because they both made me laugh while I was writing them.
Q: Can you walk us through the creative process of producing the album, “Shut Up & Listen”?
A: I’m very OCD so I’ll get in the mood and just start writing songs for 2 or 3 days and then move on to something completely different. Then I’ll go back a week later and make the music over a couple of days and then force myself to produce it before I jump to something else again.
Q: What has been the most memorable concert or performance for Crash & Chaos so far?
A: Crash & Chaos is a studio project for right now but I do have a guitarist that’s wants to go on tour
So we’ll see.
Q: Reflecting on your body of work, each song holding its unique significance, could you share a particular track that stands out to you personally? What makes that specific tune special, and why does it hold a place of pride in your musical journey?
A: Fly, I wrote that song as a love letter to my wife for after I die. I have severe lung disease and I’m not sure how much longer I have, So I wrote Fly as a way to say it’s ok to move on after I’m gone.
Q: Exploring the diverse creative processes within the music industry is always fascinating. Could you provide insight into Crash & Chaos’s unique approach to crafting music? From the initial spark of an idea to the finished song, how do you navigate the creative journey and bring its musical concepts to life?
A: It’s usually the same every time. It’s always random times that I get the spark. But it’s always seeing something or being reminded of something and then saying that could be a song and just telling a story while trying to rearrange words to rhyme. And pre choruses or post choruses just happen that arent planned. There really isn’t much magic to the song creations as much ok I sing as I wright and that becomes the format of the song.
Q: As we wrap up our conversation, looking ahead, what aspirations or dreams do you have, and what message would you like to share with your fans as they continue to accompany you on this musical journey?
A: Crash and Chaos isn’t looking for fame or fortune. Just want the songs to be heard. Life is too short don’t take it all too seriously. It’s ok to laugh and have fun sometimes.
