Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: Growing up, my taste in music was heavily influenced by my surroundings, as I listened to genres such as pop, rap, hip-hop, Afrobeats, and grime. I think with each release, people get a real insight into my different tastes and styles of making music.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover AD.AD.?
A: Although these days everyone is looking for a viral moment, I believe that steady, sustained growth is the best way for any artist to build a lasting career, live long in people’s memories, and become a household name in an industry filled with so much talent. I plan on making appearances, performing, and consistently releasing high-quality music. My message to both existing and new AD.AD. supporters is: “I’m never going to stop.” Invest your stock in me now because I’m going global.
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: I have a few. I would say Central Cee, Wizkid, and Michael Jackson. Central Cee, for obvious reasons, has started to bridge the gap between the UK and US markets, and I believe I can continue to do the same in the near future. Wizkid and Michael Jackson inspire me for similar reasons—the quality of their music and their aura. When they step into a room (before Michael Jackson passed away), people are automatically drawn to them. Even when they try to blend in, they still stand out.
My writing process and inspiration mainly come from what’s happening around me or simply how I’m feeling in the moment.
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Good Days”?
A: With Good Days, I wanted to create a song that automatically uplifts people’s mood, even if they’re feeling down when they first hear it.
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: Versatile.
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Good Days”?
A: Because Good Days is such a free-flowing song, I feel like it was outside of my comfort zone compared to my previous releases. Overall, though, it was an easy song to write and record.
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: I want every song I release to spread positivity and make people happy.
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (Dead or alive)
A: Wizkid, because I’ve never seen an artist who has worked with him come out and say anything negative. Everyone always says he’s one of the best people to work with in the studio. Since he was also the first major artist I opened for, it would be an incredible full-circle moment to get in the studio with him and create a banger together.
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or trying to enter the industry?
A: Be open-minded and willing to try new things, and always be able to take constructive criticism. But I would say the most important thing is to never give up. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and being able to block out hate and negativity is just as important.
Q: If you could go back in time and give your younger self some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: Keep going. I wouldn’t change anything because living in the present is always better than dwelling on the past.
