Conversation With Gary Dranow

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: As a guitar player and athlete from Park City, Utah, my childhood had a significant impact on my musical direction. Growing up, I was exposed to various forms of artistic expression, and my parents encouraged me to explore different creative outlets. However, it was my experiences as an athlete that truly shaped my musical journey. The discipline, dedication, and perseverance that I learned through sports translated seamlessly into my approach to music. It taught me the importance of practice, honing my skills, and constantly pushing myself to improve. Additionally, my love for the Blues and Rock music genres was ignited during those formative years, as I discovered artists like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn who inspired me with their soulful and energetic guitar playing. These influences, combined with my life experiences, have had a lasting impact on my musical style, and I am grateful for the opportunity to channel my passion into my autobiographical album, Destiny Road.
