ANNING’S DRAGON brings so much energy with their new single “Decay For Silence”. It’s a strong alternative rock single from this professional and experienced Japanese band. The track has a loud sound, but it doesn’t lose the details along the way. There is a lot happening in the instrumentation and the production keeps everything clear instead of turning the song into a wall of noise.
The vocals are one of the strongest parts here. They have power, but there is also enough control to let the melodies stand out. Those melodies stay in the head and the lyrics give the song something more to think about once the music has finished.
There is also an interesting idea behind the track. It comes from a much bigger science-fiction story about a future shaped by artificial intelligence, but the song here focuses more closely on conflict between people. A disagreement grows, spreads through the internet and eventually reaches a point where nobody seems able to stop what is happening. It is a simple idea in one way, but the song gives it a much bigger scale.
What works especially well is how the music supports that story. The progressive touches add movement without taking over, while the alternative rock base keeps the track easy to follow. It sounds like a band that knows what it wants to make and has taken care with every part of it.
We really liked this one. The instruments, melodies, lyrics and production all come together naturally, and there is enough energy to make another listen an easy choice. ANNING’S DRAGON clearly put real work into this release, and their new single deserves more listeners this summer.
