Angela Sclafani – How We Meet

Beautiful and talented singer-songwriter Angela Sclafani landed on our radar recently with her new single, “How We Meet,” and we are super excited to share this masterpiece with you. “How We Meet” is the first of four singles leading up to the new album’s release in February 2023. The new single is a great experience from start to finish.

The minute we heard Angela’s voice, we fell in love with it and couldn’t get it out of our heads. She has one of the purest and most charming voices we’ve ever heard and her performance on this record is on another level. The recording quality is interesting and the production style is beautifully simple. The instrumental is amazing and the atmosphere of this song is catchy. Angela Sclafani has so much talent when it comes to writing songs and this song shows off all the melodic tones of her stunning voice. The lyrics are beautifully written and mesh perfectly with the vocal melodies.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Angela Sclafani is a New York City-based songwriter, performer, and theatre-maker- recently named a 2022 Woman to Watch on Broadway by the Broadway Women’s Fund. As a creative and multi-hyphenate artist, she is often synchronously performing, writing, and co-producing her projects. Because of her versatile work in both the theater and music worlds, Angela has had the opportunity to perform with renowned artists such as Todd Almond, Courtney Love, Shaina Taub, Heidi Rodewald, & Years and Years. Her work has been performed in venues such as The Beacon Theater, The Theater at Madison Square Garden, 54 Below, Ars Nova, and Rockwood Music Hall. She earned her BFA at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts after studying within Playwrights Horizons Theater School, the Experimental Theater Wing, and Stonestreet Studios. 

Angela has independently released three EP’s of original songs as well as an EP of Stevie Nicks covers. Her music has been praised for its “engagingly original lyrical story, inventively appealing imagery and smartly crafted melodic design.” Angela is a two-time first-place winner in the Great American Songwriting Contest’s Adult Contemporary category and was a finalist in the 2021 Unsigned Only Competition and 2020 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Her latest single, Bell Jar, made the Spotify editorial playlist “Fresh Finds Folk”. Angela is collaborating with producer Katie Buchanan on her first full-length album, which will be released by indie record label Pitch & Prose in February 2023.

Angela’s original song cycle, PASSION PROJECT, premiered in September 2019 at The Green Room 42 under the direction of Mary Birnbaum. The first volume of the continuing series featured performances by Tonya Pinkins, Desi Oakley, Grace McLean, Katie Thompson, Arielle Jacobs, Lexi Lawson, and more. Angela’s debut musical, THE OTHER SIDE OF PARADISE, premiered in Ars Nova’s ANT Fest in 2017 under the direction of Hunter Bird. Angela and Hunter are also co-writers of a new musical called THE GOLDEN RECORD about the creation of the time capsule that launched with the Voyager Mission in 1977.​

As an actor, Angela enjoys working on new musicals. She has participated in workshops of BURN ALL NIGHT, AMELIE, THE GOOD SWIMMER, AGENT 355, THE LAST GOODBYE, MARIE IN TOMORROWLAND, and THE FLAMINGO KID. The musicals KANSAS CITY CHOIR BOY and SINGLE RIDER both featured her in their world premieres. Angela has also performed at The McKittrick Hotel, appearing in Sleep No More’s Winter Masquerade Ball and the Manderley’s Follies.  ​

Angela is a 2019 Fred Ebb Award Winner, a 2018 Jonathan Larson Grant Finalist, and a 2017 Billie Burke Ziegfeld Award Semifinalist. She has developed work at the Château de La Napoule International Artist Residency in the South of France, the National Theater Institute, The Orchard Project Greenhouse Residency, Fresh Ground Pepper’s BRB Artist Retreat, and Musical Theatre Factory’s 4×15. Angela has also been a featured composer in Rattlestick Playwright Theater’s NEW SONGS NOW series, Prospect Theater Company’s Musical Theater Lab,The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues, NY Theatre Barn’s New Works Series, and NYMF’s INTERSECTING CHORDS concert. In support of her creative endeavors, Angela was named a 2018 Richie Jackson Artist Fellow and was awarded the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust Grant.
