Angel Piana – Mare Aperto

Italian composer Angel Piana just dropped a new single called “Mare Aperto” and yeah, we’ve been waiting for this one for a couple of weeks now. It’s finally here, and honestly, it’s worth the wait.

This is a solo piano piece, but not the kind you just throw on in the background and forget. It moves slowly, gently, like it actually has something to say. No lyrics, but it still tells a full story. You can feel that right away. The notes kind of drift, then build, then settle again… like waves, or thoughts that don’t stay still for long.

We like how simple it sounds at first, but the more you listen, the more it pulls you in. There’s a softness to it, but also little moments where it sounds heavier, almost like it’s going somewhere emotional but not too dramatic. It’s that balance that makes it work.

At some points, it almost sounds like the piano is pausing to breathe, giving space before the next idea comes in. That little detail made it feel more human and real to us, not rushed, not trying too hard. Just letting the music exist as it is.

You can tell this piece comes from a real place. It’s not overworked or overly polished. More like something that came naturally and stayed that way. It’s minimal and holds your attention in a great way. We also liked how easy it is to come back to. Each listen kind of hits a bit differently depending on your mood which is always a good sign with this kind of music.

This track made us excited about Angelo Piana as an artist, and honestly, that’s always a good sign too. It’s calm, a bit emotional, easy to sit with… and we’re probably keeping this one on repeat for a while.
