WHAT THE ARTIST SAYS ABOUT THE SONG:

“I wanted a song that made you feel like you were driving down I-25 in Colorado. It’s a drive I’ve made many times. There’s something mystical about these incomprehensible mountains looking down on you as you drive by, cloaked in snow and shielding us from the sun. You feel so small, but you feel so alive. It wasn’t hard to connect these drives to past romantic experiences I’ve had where I’ve felt paradoxical excitement and dread. The narrator feels this magical moment happening, but there’s shame clawing at his mind, and he knows the romance will end. At some point this song became less a short story and more a short autobiography. But one thing is for sure – I still love making that drive down I-25.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Andrew Akins presents I-25, the lead single off his next full-length album, Parables (January, 2023). Americana Highways called it “pure and expansive”, and indeed, listeners can close their eyes and find themselves weaving through Colorado mountains on a winter’s day. Steeped in traditional Acoustic Country and Americana, I-25 harnesses emotive nostalgia and scenery to give it a sense of wonder.
