Diver Through have released “It’s the Sky”, a single from their upcoming EP “I Want To Be Disrupted” and it is a track that has stayed with us over the last few days. There is so much to enjoy here, from the strong melodies to the way the guitars and drums work together. Each part has a place, but the band still leaves room for the music to move.
The song takes a subject that can seem far away and brings it closer. Its starting point is the changing sky and the growing signs of climate instability, with the title giving that idea a simple and slightly unexpected turn. It does not need to explain every detail or turn the track into a lesson. The words are honest and the music gives them enough space to land.
The songwriting is deep. The melodies are catchy and the instruments bring real energy to the track. The production is creative and sounds professional, but it does not take away the band’s character. There is passion in the performance and we liked that. You can hear a group playing with purpose rather than simply trying to make everything sound perfect.
We’ve had this one on repeat and we really loved the melodies, the strong rhythm and the care put into the writing. Diver Through have given us a very good reason to spend more time with their music, and we’re already looking forward to hearing what they do next.
ABOUT THE BAND:

There’s an appropriate lack of polish at the heart of Diver Through’s new EP, “I Want To Be Disrupted.” Recorded live at Vinegar Hill Sound in Brooklyn over two days in May 2026, the five-song collection was built around a simple idea: disrupt the process. In the months before the session, principal songwriter Michael Baynes scrapped nearly everything he had been working on and began writing specifically for Diver Through as a three-piece. The band arrived with 10–12 songs, recorded eight and ultimately chose five—all without overdubs, vocal tuning, gridded drums or studio sleight of hand. Two of the songs that made the record had never even been played together by the band before the tape rolled. The result embraces something increasingly elusive in modern recording: the possibility that things might actually go wrong.
That willingness to surrender some control carries directly into the songs. Opener “It’s The Sky” takes its inspiration from a story about increased clear-air turbulence caused by a changing climate, turning the unsettling idea that “it’s not you, it’s the sky that’s changing” into a broader metaphor for instability. The title track pushes that feeling inward, with Baynes confronting his own dissatisfaction and desire to break from familiar patterns, while “End Of Our Story” finds tenderness in a couple facing mortality and finally saying yes to an experience they had long put off. “Prove One Thing,” meanwhile, grew partly from ideas surrounding AI, the Turing Test and the increasingly slippery question of what is real, before “Somewhere You Left Behind” closes the circle with the recognition that moving forward never completely separates us from where we’ve been.
For Diver Through—Baynes on vocals and guitar, Mikey Clams on bass and Ken Nasta on drums—the method suits a band whose ethereal, melodic indie rock has always balanced atmosphere with immediacy. Following “Scattered Days”, “The Way We Were” and “Allnighter”, I Want To Be Disrupted is less about reinventing Diver Through than stripping away the things standing between the band and the moment. Recorded and mixed by Reed Black and mastered by Matthew Agoglia, the EP leaves the human evidence intact: the room, the interaction, the risk and the imperfections. In an era when nearly anything can be corrected, replaced or manufactured after the fact, Diver Through chose instead to show up, play the songs and live with what happened—a five-song argument that sometimes the most interesting thing a band can do is relinquish control.
