George Aletras – Όπως Παλιά

George Aletras has released a new single, “Όπως Παλιά” and this was actually our first time listening to his music. It did not take long to understand why we wanted to keep listening. There is something very natural about the way this track is put together.

The song uses post-punk and new wave ideas, but the production gives them a warmer sound. The guitars, background textures and steady rhythm work well together without making the track too busy. The sound design is one of the best parts here. There are small details in the mix that give the music more space, while the vocal melodies stay clear and haunting.

The song looks back at a past where love, hope and openness seemed easier to hold onto. But it is not simply asking for the past to return. Instead, it asks whether some of that honesty can still exist now. That idea gives the track more than just an 80s-inspired sound. There is a real reason behind the nostalgia. George is an artist who cares about the work. You can hear that in the production choices, the mixing and the way nothing seems to be added just to fill space.

The Greek language also suits the song well. Even without understanding every line, the delivery carries the mood clearly and the melodies do a lot of the work. The tones are warm but never too soft, and the track keeps its character throughout. We really enjoyed discovering George Aletras through this single. This track is passionate, carefully made and easy to return to, especially when the mood calls for something a little darker and more thoughtful.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

George Aletras is an independent Greek songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Human nature, existence, confession, memory, love, loss and the search for truth are at the heart of his work.

His musical journey began with the mandolin before he went on to study classical guitar. At the age of eleven, he joined the Neochori Plucked String Orchestra, performing in Greece, France and Spain, and later appeared as a sessional musician for many artists.

After years of classical training, he sought a more direct and honest musical language. Alongside guitar, he taught himself drums, studied the musical saw under Nikos Giousef, and developed his own voice as a songwriter and composer. His friendship with Thanos Anestopoulos of Diafana Krina became a lasting artistic influence, shaping his understanding of songwriting combined with poetry as a lifelong search rather than a destination.

Writing primarily in Greek, George draws inspiration mostly from the Greek rock scene while moving naturally between post-punk, indie, alternative rock and instrumental music, post rock and cinematic soundscapes, frequently blurring the boundaries between them. At times, his work leans into experimental territories, not as a statement of style, but a natural consequence of exploration, where form isn’t followed but discovered. Every composition begins from the same place: an honest attempt to transform an inner search into something that another person may recognize as their own.
