Northampton’s new guitar-driven rock persona, THEHERO, has released his latest single “Let Your Lover Go,” a playful tune with a touch of confidence and a bit of mischief.
THEHERO is the solo project of Oli Law, who began producing home demos of original material during the pandemic. “Let Your Lover Go” follows his debut single, “Black Heart Woman,” which was released last year.
The track is a departure from his previous sound, a hard-hitting and energetic rock song with catchy hooks and a memorable chorus. With a hint of garage rock influence and raw production, “Let Your Lover Go” is sure to get heads bobbing and feet tapping.
According to THEHERO, the song is not about anyone in particular, but rather a universal issue of liking someone who is already in a relationship. The lyrics playfully suggest that the subject should leave their current lover for someone new, all from the perspective of “The Bad Guy.”
The song’s overconfident and cheeky tone is a departure from THEHERO’s typical shy and reserved nature. It was an experiment in writing about love in an unconventional way, with the original demo recorded on holiday in a dusty log cabin using an iPhone and an old Macbook. Despite its rough-around-the-edges production, the final version of “Let Your Lover Go” retains the original guitar recording, adding a touch of grit to the track’s bombastic ode to the overdriven ego.
With two singles under his belt, THEHERO is set to make waves in the Northampton music scene and beyond. His unique blend of genres influences is sure to appeal to fans of all ages and musical backgrounds. Keep an eye out for more from this up-and-coming artist.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
THEHERO is a solo artist from Northampton, England. At the height of the pandemic, Oli Law began producing home demos of new original material which spiralled into a guitar driven rock persona known as THEHERO. Armed with a home-made electric guitar and a battalion of killer tracks written about introverted emotions and coming of age experiences, THEHERO aims high to bring the next evolution of rock, beginning with the debut release: Black Heart Woman – recorded over 2 days with the electrifying Ben Farestvedt of Damage Audio. ‘I like to think my songs are anthems for the introverted. Battles that I’ve fought in my own head and lost in the real world. The music is almost redemption and therapy for things that I’ve felt and never truly come to terms with, wrapped up in a confident identity I wish I always had. In essence THEHERO is who takes over when I need him most’.
