Very rarely do we cover instrumentals on Bored City, but The Cookies Jar Complot band really grabbed our attention with their new release “Cookies.”
For us, it’s really challenging to search through hundreds of submissions and find something that creatively speaks volumes without some sort of imagery from the vocalist. With instrumentals, it’s extremely difficult, but The Cookies Jar Complot did it perfectly with this release. The atmosphere of the track is unique, the energy is beautiful and the texture in the soundscape is rich. It’s energetic, original and it really stood out to us. This band is creative and brings a great variety and tastes and styles to their music that not only demands your attention but keeps you coming back for more. The production is solid, smart, and brought this track to a whole new level.
This band successfully channeled their feelings and relayed that energy in the form of an instrumental that grows on you as you listen along. It’s really not as easy as it looks, but this band did it beautifully. ABOUT THE BAND:
The Cookie Jar Complot is an instrumental post to math- rock band from Luxembourg. Composed of the songwriting duo Sven Schmeler and Gilles Glesener, the band has been active since 2020 and has released their first EP Caviar Capital in 2021. Their music is flowing in dynamic rhythms, post-rock soundscapes and intertwined guitar melodies. Drawing from a rich palette of influences, The Cookie Jar Complot also looked to other Luxembourgish acts to find their musical voices. Both Gilles and Sven have played and written for multiple Luxembourg-based music acts in the past. Teaming up for The Cookie Jar Complot, their aim was to create compelling instrumental music that you can dance to. For live performances, Sven and Gilles have enlisted Philipp Colling on bass and Miko Buraczyk on guitar. The band is currently working on a new EP and will find its way to their recording studio this summer so stay tuned!
