Welsh artist SHWA has returned with a new single that explores the first sparks of love. “Butterflies” is the second release from the singer-songwriter and follows her debut single “Learn To Hurt.”
Described by CLOUT Magazine as “thoughtfully introspective,” “Butterflies” showcases SHWA’s natural flair for storytelling and vocal colouring. The song features delicate tones and mournful belts that blend harmoniously with the keyboard arrangements and synth sequences, which are produced by Tokøta.
Heavily influenced by the likes of Taylor Swift, SHWA’s adoration for storytelling takes us on the next step of her love journey. She removes the “rosy-tainted glasses” and accepts that “falling in love isn’t easy,” but she’s open to the possibilities anyway.
“When I initially started this song, I thought that it would be a lighter story compared to ‘Learn To Hurt.’ But as I was writing, it became apparent that my idea of falling in love was still coming from the 14-year-old me; finding that connection with someone is rare, especially when we’re living in a ‘swipe right’ society, but I want to allow myself to be open to finding those sparks regardless,” explains SHWA.
The song’s ambience is filled with nostalgic tones and heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics, inviting us to sit in our feelings while dancing it out to another dance-pop track. SHWA’s natural ability to create catchy pop hooks and blend them with introspective lyrics is what sets her apart from the crowd. With “Butterflies,” SHWA cements her position as one of the most exciting new artists to come out of Wales in recent years. The song’s catchy chorus and relatable lyrics are sure to resonate with fans of pop music worldwide.
“Butterflies” is a beautiful follow-up to SHWA’s debut single and showcases her natural talent for storytelling and creating catchy pop hooks. Fans of the artist can look forward to more exciting releases in the future as she continues to establish herself as one of the most exciting new talents in the music industry.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Pronounced as SH-W-AH, this freshly born artist is already making a statement with her name, leaving us wondering and intrigued for more. As a typical ‘Valleys’ girl from Abertillery (Blaenau Gwent), of course, music runs through those Welsh veins but exciting storytelling is this artist’s flair:
“I strive to compose deep connections in my writing. I’m so inspired when I listen to songs that take me on a journey; where you discover hidden gems each time you listen to it on repeat; touching me on a level I didn’t know I needed to express as if it was made solely for my ears. If I can infuse that magic into my writing, I’ll never look back disappointed.”
With raw honesty syncopated against UPLIFTING melodies, SHWA takes us on a journey from BROKEN to FIERCE in a matter of minutes with her debut release LEARN TO HURT, wearing her heart on her sleeve and striking us at the very core of the struggles experienced in a breakup.
