ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Ritu is a neo-soul singer-songwriter born and raised in London. Growing up with Indian parents she was surrounded by the culture and listened to a lot of Indian music, which has heavily influenced western music, and has a lot of similarities with jazz music. This made her be inspired by artists like The Beatles, Amy Winehouse, and Fleetwood Mac, which then led to her creating her own jazzy pop sound. Her music reflects current neo-soul artists, such as Joy Crookes and Arlo Parks, whilst adding influences of pop and jazz music. Ritu started playing piano and singing at a young age and as the years passed by, she realised that music was more than a hobby. She therefore decided to develop her songwriting and singing skills to hopefullyv inspire people with her music. Ritu released her first single ‘Runaway’ in 2020, which has gained nearly 100,000 streams. Over the course of 2022 she has been working on her debut EP, in collaboration with jazz fusion drummer and producer Creature, whilst gigging at venues such as Under the Bridge and Dublin Castle in London.
