Creative and experienced artist Ralph Beeby left us stuck on repeat with his amazing single, “Never Know,” and we are super excited to share it with you. The song is a unique experience from start to finish and really deserves more attention.
In a world where artists sound too alike, Ralph Beeby really stands out. He has one of the richest voices we’ve heard in days and his vocal performance on this record is professional and made us have to rewind the song over and over the first time, we heard it. The lyrics are original, well-written, and mesh perfectly with the vocal melodies. The instrumental is beautiful and the production of this record is beautifully simple. Ralph has an amazing passion for his music and has so much talent when it comes to writing songs. “Never Know” is a great song that can be enjoyed from start to finish and features a timeless experience you’ll enjoy for years to come. ABOUT THE ARTIST:
After more than a decade playing bass in London’s frantic music scene, Ralph Beeby has finally stepped out of the shadows to deliver his own solo project: The Elephant Collective. This Gothic Folk-Blues provides a vehicle for his deep, haunting vocals, reminiscent of Nick Cave and Johnny Cash, paired with his intricate fingerstyle guitar skills, which recall the likes of Davy Graham, Martin Simpson, and Gwenifer Raymond. Eschewing a lot of the more well-trodden cliches of folk and blues, Ralph draws on a diverse range of influences including jazz, classical music, and Eastern European folk music.
The First Light EP, released in 2018, began things as Ralph intends to continue, with, as music blog Angry Baby describes, “a fabulous, earthy, raw blues rhythm that gets you up out of your seat from the first bar.” The strength of the follow-up EP, An Imperfect Cadence of Gloom and Ennui (2019) saw a rapid increase in radio play, and a diverse series of gigs, from Oxford’s Bullingdon Club to a Viking festival.
In spring 2020, Ralph will release his third EP, Another Swing of the Scythe, featuring six original songs linked by a theme of death and mortality.
Ralph raises the bar for the singer-songwriter setup: his elaborate guitar work creates a rich palette of chords, basslines and countermelodies from a single guitar, without the need for modern loop-pedal trickery, while his ambitious writing style conceives EPs as unified works, rather than collections of throwaway singles.
