No Ordinary Fish has done it again with their latest single, “Beautiful Soul” released just yesterday. This beautifully crafted song is an instant earworm and we had it on repeat since the first listen. The band continues to prove why they’re one of our favorite names in music, delivering a track that’s both powerful and creatively rich.
The song opens with a striking line: “I don’t know but I’ve been told that everybody has a beautiful soul…”, a thought-provoking statement that sets the tone for the rest of the track. The lyrics are a heartfelt reaction to the superficiality of modern life, touching on themes like the emptiness of social media, the state of politics, and the environmental crisis. It’s a call to action wrapped in a melody that’s impossible to ignore.
The female vocalist, Debbie, shines once again with her captivating voice. Her delivery is emotional and raw, perfectly complementing the song’s message. The vocal melodies are beautifully crafted and mesh perfectly with the instrumentation. Speaking of which, the production is top-notch. The track features layered guitars, dynamic shifts, and a stunning guitar solo by Rich that adds an extra layer of depth and energy. The mix of loud and quiet moments gives the song a nostalgic 90s vibe with a powerful and memorable chorus.
It’s a song that makes you think while also making you want to sing along. The band’s style and skills are on full display here, and it’s clear they’ve poured their hearts into this track. This is the band’s first release in this year and it marks a new chapter for them with a lineup change (Stu moving to bass and Dean joining on drums). If this track is any indication of what’s to come, we’re beyond excited for their future releases in 2025.
