Makola’s new single “Stone Roses” is a raw and honest rap track that really hits home. It tells the story of two friends growing up in London, trying to survive with nothing but each other. The verses are sharp and real, with lyrics that don’t shy away from tough truths. The flow is clean and steady, pulling you in with every line.
The chorus is super catchy, you’ll find it stuck in your head after just one listen. The production is smooth and creative and the instrumental fits the mood of the song perfectly. Everything sounds polished, from the beat to the mixing and you can tell this is a duo that knows exactly what they’re doing.
The visualiser adds another layer to the story, showing the energy, emotion, and chaos of youth. It’s a powerful reminder of how friendships can both lift us up and bring us down. Makola’s energy and storytelling feel real and their sound is something special. “Stone Roses” is one of those tracks that stays with you. We’ll definitely be playing it again.
ABOUT THE DUO:

Makola’s sound is the product of a unique cultural collision. DJ and producer Peter
Hakola (from Finland) and rapper/vocalist Samuel Kwame Mensah (of Ghanaian
heritage) bring together distinct influences, creating a genre-defying sonic
experience.
Their music has earned them praise from Complex, Clash Magazine, GRM Daily,
and Earmilk, along with placements on Spotify’s Grime Shutdown Playlist. Known for
their electrifying live performances, Makola has taken the stage at major events
including Switzerland’s No Borders No Nations Festival, where they played to over
10,000 people in support of anti-fascism movements.
