One standout aspect of this album is Black’s foray into the genre she playfully dubs “synthrock.” While this term may not yet be a recognized genre in mainstream music, Laurie Black’s musical exploration within it is bound to make waves. “Angst Music” masterfully combines the nostalgia of retro synths with a modern, edgy twist, creating a distinct and alluring sound that is uniquely her own.
Notable collaborations on the album include David Ryder Prangley, who lends his guitar skills and backing vocals on the track “Work When Ur Dead.” This partnership adds depth and diversity to the album’s sonic palette.
