Jeffrey Chan – Over

Following the success of his latest singles, Australian pop artist Jeffrey Chan released his new single “Over” last Friday and we can’t get enough of it. The minute we heard Jeffrey’s voice we fell in love with it and couldn’t get it enough of our heads. He has one of the richest and most powerful voices we’ve ever heard and this song shows off all the melodic tones of this stunning voice. The production quality is interesting and the vocal mixing and mastering are excellent. The instrumental is impressive and the energy of this song is beautiful. The lyrics are well written and mesh perfectly with the vocal melodies. The chorus will get stuck in your mind and you may find yourself singing it out loud by the next morning. Give it a spin and be sure to share it with friends!

WHAT THE ARTIST SAYS ABOUT THIS SONG:

“At the core of it, Over is a breakup song but it’s that specific moment when you have finally come to terms with the end of a relationship. I wanted to capture that feeling when you’re looking back at everything that happened, both the good and the bad.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Giving pop and retro influences a modern electronic edge – Jeffrey Chan is a singer/songwriter who is unafraid to push the boundaries.

Jeffrey grew up in Sydney, Australia where his passion for music was first ignited through classical piano lessons from the age of 5, but it wasn’t until later when he began to incorporate his piano training with his love for singing and songwriting, into modern pop music. With carefully crafted pop tones, his unique approach to songwriting and his smooth deep tones – Jeffrey has a distinctively unique sound which can be likened to no other.

His 2018 album, FaultLine was a blend of pop, funk, and dance elements to his sound with a slightly urban twist. Preceded by the release and success of his hip-hop influenced lead single Porsche and the 80’s synth-driven Breathe Heavy, the album led Jeffrey into new visual and sonic territories.

With the lead singles Precious and Tell Me The Truth, Jeffrey’s follow-up EP FaultLine: AfterShock (2019) further explored the sounds from FaultLine with the stories more heavily grounded in Jeffrey’s personal experiences. The musical direction of the EP was heavily influenced by 80’s pop, electronica, europop, and dance music and was praised by fans and critics alike; described by Divide & Conquer Music as being able to “find his feet in both the musical world of retro and modern with ease, while continuing to wear his heart on his sleeve to showcase deeply personal tracks that allow his listeners to dig deep into his personal journey”.

As the world was turned upside down in 2020, Jeffrey’s initial plans to tour his previous albums had come to a halt and like the rest of the world, he had to rethink his plans. His next single Glow was selected as part of a weekly live streamed event dubbed #QuarantineSessions, when fans across the world selected what would be his next single. This glittery and sugar-sweet new track was created with a limited powerhouse team as a result of quarantine, and has quickly become his most successful track to date; amassing over 100,000 streams in just a few months. This was quickly followed up by the release of Try (an 80’s tinged pop mid-tempo co-produced with Dibs), the pop-house dance track, Call My Name in June 2021 and his most successful single to date, the retro pop-rock song You Only Want Me When I’m Gone in November of the same year. Following the release of these tracks, Jeffrey’s online presence began to quickly grow, with these singles racking up over 800,000 streams on Spotify alone; in a review of Jeffrey’s work Amelia Vandergast (A&R Factory) stated “Jeffrey has what it takes to be the breakthrough artist of the year”. As Jeffrey continues to explore new sounds and find his footing in the pop landscape, his new single Vertigo comes out on 19 May 2022.
