Interview With Sinsei 82

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: “I was born in the U.S., but I’ve lived in Denmark since I was 1, and I am from Kurdish descent. Growing up at the bottom of the social and economic ladder, in what we’d call the ‘concrete jungle,’ shaped a lot of who I am. Though Denmark isn’t as extreme as other places, being in that environment still had a big impact, especially as a young man feeling out of place. Music became my escape. American rap spoke to me the most, putting words to the emotions and struggles I was experiencing. At home, my mom played Kurdish and Middle Eastern music, while outside, you’d hear Danish and American pop everywhere. Being surrounded by such different sounds taught me to appreciate all types of music, and that mix of influences is what drives my sound today.”

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Sinsei 82”?

A: “I don’t have a rigid plan. I make music that resonates with me first, and then I share it, hoping it connects with others. For anyone discovering ‘Sinsei 82,’ I want them to know my music is authentic, born from real-life experiences.

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?

A: “There are so many dope artists out there today, whether they’re just emerging or they’ve been around for a while. But the ones who inspire me the most are no longer with us, yet their music still speaks volumes. I draw inspiration from my own life—everything I’ve been through and what I’m still experiencing today.

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, ‘Only For Me’?

A: “The song reflects on a past relationship, one of my first real loves. I was young and learning how to navigate those new emotions. Writing was how I processed everything back then, and it still is. It’s like therapy for me—writing helps me gain clarity and put things into perspective.”

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A: “Fusion. I’ve been surrounded by so many different cultures and sounds growing up, and I love blending genres. I always try to create something unique.”

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording ‘Only For Me’?

A: “Surprisingly, no. The emotions behind that song were so clear to me that it flowed naturally.”

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: “I wouldn’t say there’s a specific message. My music is more about sharing my experiences. I’m not here to play a role or pretend to be something I’m not. I just want to create music that resonates with people and offers them a glimpse into my world.”

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with (dead or alive)?

A: “2pac and Michael Jackson, hands down. Their impact on music and culture is unprecedented and their music is simply timeless.”

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: “Make sure you really love it. And not just the music—there’s a whole side to the industry that involves social media, networking, business, and branding. If you’re not passionate enough to learn all aspects, it’s going to be a tough ride.”

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A: “Don’t chase perfection. The best art comes from imperfections.”
