Interview With Sector 5

Q: Can you tell us a bit about the band and how your childhood influenced your musical direction?

A: Sector 5 is made up of the brothers Mika, Onno, and Sami, along with bassist Jules. Mika, Sami, and Onno started making music together when they were just 6 and 9 years old, inspired by bands like Nirvana and Linkin Park. Their music had a huge impact on shaping the sound of our band today.

Q: How are you planning to grow your fan base and share your music with the world? What message do you have for new listeners discovering “Sector 5”?

A: We’re currently working on our debut album, which will showcase our new sound and help establish us further in the industry. To anyone discovering us for the first time stay tuned!

We have a lot of exciting things coming, and we’d love for you to be part of our journey.

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? Where do you find inspiration for making music?

A: Linkin Park has always been a huge inspiration, and their recent return continues to motivate us. We also had the honor to work with producer Ciarán O’Shea, who has collaborated with them. Beyond that, inspiration comes from the creative process itself—making music together as a band just feels right to us.

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song “Low”?

A: “Low” is about being in a dark place and finding someone who lifts you up. It captures a quieter, more introspective side of our music, reflecting on the struggle of feeling lost and the strength it takes to find your way back. This song means a lot to us, and we hope it resonates with our listeners.

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A: Contagious.

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Low”?

A: Our friend and cellist, Ulysse Bonneau, came all the way from Switzerland, and we had never recorded cello before. It was a new but rewarding experience.

Q: What is the overall message of your music? And what are your goals as a band?

A: Our music is about unity—being stronger together as a community and finding positivity even in tough situations. We also encourage people to take care of themselves. As for our goals, we want to headline our own tour and travel the world sharing our music.

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with (dead or alive)?

A: 2Pac.

Q: What advice do you have for people interested in pursuing a career in music or entering the industry?

A: Stay persistent, keep creating, build a strong team around you and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

Q: If you could go back in time and give your younger self some advice, what would it be?

A: PRACTICE!
