Interview With Presley Tennant

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: Hi! Thank you so much for chatting with me! I first started in the industry at 10 years old so I was very young! I was in a Pop-Christian girl group then started my solo career at 13 and haven’t stopped since… I grew up in a small horsetown called Norco, in Southern California so I was always surrounded by country music. There’s so many ways that my childhood has shaped my music, and I feel like it keeps evolving and I cannot wait to see where it takes me.

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Presley Tennant”?

A: I’m growing my fan base by connecting with people through my music, live shows, and social media. I want fans to see who I am, not just hear my songs.

For anyone just finding me! Hi! Welcome! My music is about being honest, knowing your worth, and loving yourself through it all. I hope you can relate cause I’m excited to have you!

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?

A: I’ve really been loving Carter Faith! I’ve listened to her music for awhile now but as soon as she came out with If I Had Never Lost My Mind, I was hooked! She does an incredible job at keeping the traditional country sound while also having lots of modern sound! Not too mention her songs are so fun and relatable!

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Let Lying Dogs Sleep.”?

A: The idea was something that Trey Bruce, my co-writer, brought into the session! It was one of those things, as soon as I heard it, I loved it! It kinda brought me back to when I was a kid hearing all the stories of my moms friends and what they went through! As well as what so many of us have gone through at some point in life!

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A: I would say empowered! I think my music is a safe space that a lot of young girls and women can relate to.

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Let Lying Dogs Sleep”?

A: I wouldn’t say I faced too many challenges in writing or recording Let Lying Dogs Sleep. The writing process came to my co-writer and I pretty quick! I think if anything, when I went in to track the song, it was making sure the production matched the same vision I had in my head and it succeeded!

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: The overall message of my music is all about authenticity, self respect, and embracing life’s hard truths… I think it’s so important to know your worth and still be vulnerable. Knowing people so deeply, but sometimes that still comes with consequences but also knowing who you are and not changing that is the most important!

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A: My biggest one for the longest time has been Chris Stapleton! He’s always been at the top of my list!

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: I would say don’t be afraid to get out there! It’s a bit intimidating at first but if you aren’t a bit uncomfortable, then you aren’t growing as an artist.

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A: I would tell myself to not take everything so seriously! There are definitely things to take seriously but also don’t forget to enjoy every moment! That’s the part that matters most.
