Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: growing up, I have always been around the musicians in my family. Watching my mom perform and write music or even singing with my granddad while playing piano was always something that I enjoyed doing or watching. Music was always an inspiration as I feel that I was born into the musical direction. As a kid, I would always join clubs or classes that had something to do with music. However, as a kid, I took dancing more seriously and wanted to dance behind big named artists. Overtime when I found my voice, I wanted to sing and incorporate it into my dancing. I would perform for the school, after school events. And then go home, write music, sing, dance, or play my keyboard. So not only was I dancing, but also singing and training myself into the person I want to be in the future.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Lyrik The Realest”?
A: I plan on being true to myself and grow into a mature, wise, fun, positive, and passionate person. I want to continue making music for people to relate, feel heard, and even vibe. Overtime I hope to grasp the attention and touch the hearts of my fans and be able to spread the love. “Lyrik The Realest” is a girl who is genuine and positive and just wants everyone to love themselves and be who they are, regardless of anyone or anything trying to knock them down. There is a lot of hurt in the world and I would like to spread the love, joy, and the “real” through my music.
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: I would have to say “The Kid LAROI” because I feel that he talks about personal experiences, and expresses it in his music. His music is relatable and creative, it touches your heart. Going through a lot and still being able to make it out and do what you love and represent who you are is very inspiring to me. I think he is doing a great job in the music game and I really enjoy his music. He gave me inspiration to want to talk about personal experiences and express the highs and lows of growing up. I also grasped inspiration from the way I could light up the room when I sung. Every time I sung in front of others, I was able to touch their hearts, shed tears, or make them smile. Knowing that I could make someone’s day, just by singing to them, inspired me to sing and share my talent and passion with others. My music will always have real feelings, real thoughts, and real experiences. I want someone to be able to listen to my songs and feel better and know that they are not alone, and know that It’s okay to feel how you feel.
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Hypocritical.”?
A: hypocritical is a story about how I lost the closest people to me because of The standards they put me up into but couldn’t stand their own standards. When I wrote hypocritical, I was alone and didn’t have someone to be there for me and have my back when I needed them. The message I wanted to put out in the song was that regardless of what was happening around me, and regardless of how it made me feel, I didn’t let it affect me and change who I am. I stayed true to myself.
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: Beautiful
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Hypocritical”?
A: YESSSSS!!! at first I didn’t even like hypocritical when I finished writing it. I think it was because I was afraid of not being heard and listeners not understanding that hurt I was going through. However, I ended up recording it one day for fun because I was in the studio with my brother. He liked it so much. He wanted me to drop it the same day but I couldn’t because I had to wait for it to get mixed and mastered. That ended up taking FOREVER. when I heard the finish product, I wanted everyone to really listen to the work I put into Hypocritical. I wanted them to feel the emotion and pain. I’m just glad that y’all get to hear it now and enjoy the song.
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: my message is to be who you are, don’t change for the haters. Keep going even when things get hard. And know that you are not alone. My goal is to spread the love, joy fun, and creativity to the world. I want to be the artist that anyone can listen to when they feel down and they need someone to get them back up.
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A: My dream artist is Chris Brown, CHRIS BREEZY! I have always looked up to him. Watching him dance, sing his heart out, was always something inspiring to watch. As a kid, I have always wanted to perform dance or even sing with him. He’s so cool and I would love to collab with him!
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: make music that comes from the heart. We need more real and genuine artists for the generations to look up to. Keep going because you’re gonna make it one day and don’t forget who you are.
Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: Things will knock you down, but you know you can always get back up. Learn from it and keep going! And always remember you’re so beautiful! and you will be the person you want to be.
