Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: Hi, my name is Adrien, I’m a French 45 year old producer. I was raised in different countries as my dad was an expat, so I had the chance to live in Rio de janeiro (Brazil), London, USA, Barcelona, and I’ve always travelled a lot.
My dad was a very good guitar player, so he taught me at a very young age the basics of music, while my mom, was listening to reggae…
I played in different music bands as a guitarist, then I exchanged my guitar for turntables, it was back in 1995…and that was it, I got bitten by electronic music.
At first I use to play hard techno in different festivals, then, as I grew older, I’ve lowered the BPMs and settled down, a bit.
I’ve always been surrounded by music, weather it was rock, disco, folk or else…
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “HR Department”?
A: Ah that’s a tricky one, I’m not very much of a social media guy, but I know that nowadays you have to use it to be able to resonate and make my music heard.
. I’m planning on growing my fanbase with the tools I can use easily…
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: I’m a big fan of Ricardo Villalobos as well as Ben Sterling, Jamie Jones and Ssero, but to pick one, I’d say Ben Sterling right now.
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Quertiz.”?
A: I try to connect people through my music, make them have a good time.
Quertiz came from my Latin background, I tried to catch the Colombian/Spanish spirit with the Latin vocals and the trumpets.
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: I’d say my sound is somewhere between minimal house and glitch techno.
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Quertiz”?
A: well actually the vocals where pretty touchy to work on, as well as the trumpets, but my issue, as always, is trying to have the most effective bassline that I can possibly make.
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: As a message, I would say music heals the world, sunshine heals your heart.
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A: Oh, that would be Aphex Twin, I’m a very big fan of him.
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: Work work work, experience, fall and get back up, don’t believe the hype, it’s the hype that should believe in you.
Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: Stop running, chase your dreams, and relax.
