
Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: I had a great childhood! My Father and Mother are the best parents in the world. my brothers and sisters are my best friends and other than causing a little trouble here and there in the Bronx, Hip has been my life since single digit age.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Dat Guy Ike”?
A: Im in a space where I feel that I am creating at probably my highest level ever. Im creating what feels and is real to me at this point and time. Being real to myself is just working for me at the moment.
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: Right now I would say a few artist. I love what Redman has been doing with creating music keeping consistent with great music. Im praying I get to work with him one day! Conway the Machine last album was phenomenal! One of my favorite artist out of the Griselda camp! Me being on Drumworks would be crazy! Last but not least Cydney Poitier! He took me on the road with him and I learned so much! Just playing my part watching and learning from how he moves, works a stage, interviews well. You can’t pay for that kind of experience. His work ethic is crazy and it pushes you to be your best. Id do it 100 times over, equestrian pedestrian out now!
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “What Fathers Do.”?
A: I’m a girl dad, my 5 girls are my world! I don’t think fathers get enough praise so I wanted to make something for us! Like yo we see you, keep being a great father!
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: Refreshing!
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “What Fathers Do”?
A: I took my time with the record. I spent some time with my father in law who is a professional drummer. He would play different sets or certain songs to get the thoughts flowing, and as most of my lyrics do, I was awaken out of my sleep by the song in my head. What you hear is literally what I dreamed.
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: My music is honest, aggressive , impactful, and Inspirational. My goal is just to share it with the world. When God says my job is done then that’s it!
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A: Working with Gary White and my brother Shaff of Dirty Bakerzagain is a dream fulfilled. I’m a lyricist kinda guy so Reggie(Redman) Definitely! I swear I’m going to talk that one into existence! Method Man of course, If I can get a Conway record that would insane! Jadakiss and Nas would be another. As far as artist that have passed Big L definitely and Fred The Godson! If you don’t know about Fred The Godson, Look him up it will change your life! R.I.P
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: Just enjoy the journey of creating art with your people. Don’t do it for a purpose like money or fame. The more honest your intentions are the easier it seems to excel . And keep God first always!
Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: You are just as great as you think you are, keep going!
