Interview With Blvck Toxxine

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: I grew up in Italy with my dad who was interested in pop music so I would listen to a lot of music out loud on his speakers but the big change I think has been when I found out about Nirvana when I was 16 and I think a lot of my music taste completely shifted after that. Metal instead comes after meeting friends and boyfriends who were obsessed with Metallica, Pantera and so on, at 22 I decided rock and metal were over for me and I got into pop rock/alt rock but after years of trying to find the right path for me I decided to go back to metal putting more synths and flavour to the old school one.

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Blvck Toxxine”?

A: I grew a good community on Tik tok and my niche is specifically alt so I love posting there because I know people are very open and welcoming on the platform. A message for people who are discovering Blvck Toxxine now is you are heard, everything you always wanted to communicate to people is here, your struggles and your emotions are heard here, this is a safe space.

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?

A: I definitely am obsessed with Spiritbox at the moment but I also get inspiration from ad Omens, Bring me The Horizon (who doesn’t?) and so many others

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Out of Time.”?

A: Out of Time talks about the attachment we have with time. This toxic relationship that leads us to try to be perfect all the time and make the right decisions impose by society. We live a constant hell everyday but we still can’t get out of it. We are so attached to deadlines and make the best out of our young life when really the best thing is to make mistakes and keep going knowing you learned something from that.

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A: Raw

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Out of Time”?

A: Out of Time was very difficult to release. I had to work with different people to make sure the song was with the best sound quality. I learned from my mistakes I can say for sure but I guess it’s normal when it is your first single to deal with people who claim to be good engineers and then they’re not.

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: I hope my music makes people feel at home. I know my music might sound aggressive but that can definitely give a sense of home if you relate to the words I am saying. I want people to feel accepted and heard by me when I sing, this is the best way to connect with people. I wanna make the difference in people’s lives and I know it sound cliche but I want people to feel inspired by me one day and to say that my music inspired them to make music or just simply to release those emotions built up in their mind.

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A: I would have collaborated with Kurt Cobain for sure. Even just to have a chat with him.

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: Take it slow, this is my best advice. I feel like so many people tell you to pursue your dream and work hard. No, take it slow and find your sound, your personality first and then believe in what you are doing. If you don’t like a track don’t release it just because you think people will love it. I learned from my mistakes, if you take it slow you will enjoy the process more and you’ll have less burn out

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A: Probably to believe in myself more and my talent despite what other people were saying and to be push with my creativity. Just because people think it’s weird doesn’t mean it’s not good.
