Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: I’ve always been a thinker and someone who enjoys time alone. From early on, music felt like a familiar presence rather than a conscious pursuit. I tend to feel things strongly, and music helped me both understand those emotions and live inside them, which still shapes how I approach writing and sound today.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “A Color of September”?
A: I’m approaching growth slowly and intentionally. I’m more interested in reaching listeners who are willing to sit with the music than in reaching as many people as possible. I share work when it feels ready, and I trust that it will find its way to those listeners.
For anyone just discovering A Color of September, I hope the music feels like a space to step into and explore.
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: One artist who has stayed with me over time is Miles Davis. I deeply appreciate the temperament and emotion of his music.
Beyond specific artists, I find inspiration in observation — moments, moods. The way light shifts, the feelings around me.
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “I Need Love.”?
A: “I Need Love” is a song about the quiet, persistent longing that exists beneath everyday life — the desire for connection, understanding, and openness. It isn’t tied to a single story or moment, but rather to a feeling that moves through time and relationships.
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: If I had to describe my sound in one word, it would be intimate.
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “I Need Love”?
A: The challenges I faced while writing and recording I Need Love were connected to listening closely to what the song required.
It was about finding space for the emotion to come through clearly and making choices that honored those feelings.
The process asked for patience and attention, allowing the music to unfold gradually.
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: The message of my music is rooted in emotion and presence, a space where listeners can slow down, reflect, and drift with their feelings. As an artist, my goal is to continue creating honestly and attentively, allowing the work to evolve over time while staying close to what feels true.
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A: Robert Glasper is a producer and artist who inspires me, I would be honored to collaborate with him.
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: My advice would be to create regularly, learn from each project, and keep moving forward. Stay curious and open to different art forms, as they can often spark new creative directions. Most importantly, learn to listen to your inner voice and trust it — that relationship becomes your most reliable guide over time.
Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: I would say to be more forgiving of others, and more forgiving of myself.
