Music producers Harper n Hubble have recently released their fourth album, “Academic Life,” which pays tribute to their previous careers in education. The duo, consisting of Paul Harper on vocals and guitars and Andy Hubble on drums, keyboards, and backing vocals, are based in the Black Country region of the West Midlands in the UK. While Paul has settled in Newport, Shropshire, Andy still lives in Wednesbury, West Midlands.
“Academic Life” features a mix of new and previously released tracks. The album includes some songs that were on their previous album, “with Friends,” which have been re-recorded or re-mixed/re-mastered. The new album also features three new tracks with lyrics written by John Dietrich that were not included on their previous album, “Roads we take.”
The title track, “Academic Life,” is a standout on the album. It’s a reflective and introspective song that muses on the challenges and pressures of academic life, touching on themes of self-doubt and the struggle to find balance. Paul’s emotive vocals are supported by Andy’s steady drumming and layered keyboard work, creating a sound that is both melancholic and uplifting.
The album as a whole showcases the duo’s musical versatility and growth, as they continue to evolve their sound with each release. The inclusion of previously released songs alongside new material creates a cohesive and well-rounded listening experience for both new and longtime fans.
Overall, “Academic Life” is a solid release from Harper n Hubble that highlights their talents as musicians and producers. It’s a must-listen for fans of alternative and indie rock. We really love their musical style and can’t wait to see where their career will go over the coming months!
