Gemma Felicity – CHAOTIC

London-based pop-rock singer-songwriter Gemma Felicity has once again graced us with her musical prowess in the form of her latest single, “CHAOTIC.” Released on December 1st as part of her 5-track EP titled “Baggage,” the song delves into the intricate dance between love, personal struggles, and the challenges posed by ADHD.

In a recent interview with us, Gemma Felicity opens up about the inspiration behind “CHAOTIC,” revealing a personal narrative that serves as the foundation for this emotionally charged track. The song narrates a period in Felicity’s life when she grappled with the complexities of dating someone older and seemingly more put together. As a 26-year-old, she found herself entangled with a 31-year-old finance professional who embodied order and organization. The contrast between his meticulously ordered life and her inherent chaos became a central theme, highlighting the internal conflict she faced about her own worthiness of love and commitment.

The lyrics of “CHAOTIC” weave a poignant tale of emotional dysregulation, decision paralysis, impulsivity, and a fear of commitment—common struggles associated with ADHD. Felicity’s candid admission of feeling scared by security sheds light on the paradoxical nature of relationships when dealing with neurodivergence. The internal tug-of-war between the desire for love and the instinct to flee is masterfully encapsulated in the line, “And I don’t know if it’s just me, but I get scared by security.”

What sets “CHAOTIC” apart is its ability to balance raw, introspective storytelling with an upbeat and high-energy musical arrangement. The melody of the chorus mirrors the high and restless energy associated with ADHD, creating a sonic landscape that authentically reflects the internal struggles Gemma Felicity navigates. The lyrics, “I don’t want to hurt you, but I just can’t be with you,” offer a glimpse into the conflict between love and the instinctual need for escape.

The single is a collaborative effort, with Felicity joining forces with Alex Rossiter for the songwriting and Louis Takooree for production. Their synergy brings forth a compelling musical narrative that resonates with listeners on multiple levels.

“CHAOTIC” is the second release from Gemma Felicity’s EP “Baggage,” which serves as a broader exploration of emotional baggage and its impact on attachment styles and romantic relationships. Rooted in Felicity’s personal experiences, the EP unfolds as a self-reflective journey into her mind and struggles, providing listeners with a candid and relatable musical experience.

As we eagerly await the accompanying music video set to release in January, Gemma Felicity’s “CHAOTIC” stands as a testament to her ability to seamlessly blend vulnerability with musical artistry, offering a unique and authentic perspective on love, life, and the complexities that make us beautifully human.
