Italian band Eugenia Post Meridiem released a new single a week ago, and if you’re looking for something different and captivating, “willpower” is right up your alley. The vocals are beautiful and will not only demand your attention, but the sound feels catchy in the best way possible. The vocalist Eugenia has one of the purest voices we’ve ever heard, and her performance on this record will leave you stuck on constant repeat for days. The instrumental is amazing and the production is creative and sounds very professional. The lyrics are memorable and beautifully written, and the recording quality is interesting.
We love what this band brought to the table today, and we’re super excited to hear more from them in the coming months but until then, we’ll just have to keep this song on repeat. “Willpower was the first piece we composed after “Life Sleeper”, it was developed from a composition of Matteo (drums) and then reworked in different moments from 2019 to 2021, till the recording sessions.
This song tells something about the onset of a precious thought in the mind of a teenager which keeps growing until it’s shared. Then it starts to insinuate in other minds, as an intuition, a desire, a hope, a fear, or something we always look up to.
In the verses the music reflects the growth of these thoughts through a chord progression that never resolves, then the change of the harmony in the chorus creates a different background (like the change of mind in which these thoughts are growing) and in the final chorus the music develops as if it’s a “shared experience” of minds, a communion of thoughts.” – Eugenia Post Meridiem
ABOUT THE BAND:
Eugenia Post Meridiem takes shape in summer 2017 when Eugenia (voice, guitar) meets Matteo (bass), Giovanni (guitar, keys) and Matteo (drums, percussions). After three months of travels, experiences and intense tracks’ development in Lisbon, Eugenia gets back to the project working with the band on a series of songs they have been recording in August 2018 at the Big Snuff Studio of Berlin. Summer 2019 they have been touring for a while in Italy. Oct 11 their nine tracks album #InHerBones has been released. They’ve been selected as part of 2020 INES talent pool. The band played at Eurosonic, Ment Ljubljana, Waves Wien 2020 editions. In July 2021 was released the new single LIFE SLEEPER – SIDE A. LIFE SLEEPER SIDE B will be dropped on Sept. 15th together with a short film written and interpreted by the band. Eugenia Post Meridiem will perform at MIL Lisbon and Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg) 2021 editions.
