From the energetic guitar riffs to the meaningful lyrics, this EP promises an immersive experience that leaves listeners captivated long after the music stops.

The opening track, “Hawaiian State Flag,” serves as a homage to the unique history of Hawaii, the only US state featuring the British Union Flag on its emblem. Inspired by a chance encounter near the US Embassy in London, the band delves into the intriguing backstory of Hawaii’s flag, blending historical curiosity with rock fervor.

Transitioning seamlessly into “When Churchyards Yawn,” the EP takes a darker turn, drawing from William Shakespeare’s timeless works to craft a gothic rocker perfect for the eerie ambiance of Halloween. This track showcases the band’s versatility, effortlessly weaving literary inspiration into their musical tapestry.

Continuing their journey, “All These Ghosts” unfolds in two parts, offering a melodic reflection on the people we meet in life. Infused with love and gratitude, these tracks capture the essence of human connection, accompanied by Steve Butcher’s rhythmic drumming and Kevin’s atmospheric keyboards.

The EP reaches its crescendo with “Slow Motion Catastrophe,” a poignant anthem echoing the urgent call for environmental action. Drawing inspiration from Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki, the band delivers a sobering message wrapped in a rock and roll embrace, urging listeners to confront the realities of our planet’s plight.

Throughout “Hawaiian State Flag,” XYZ showcases their distinctive musical style, born from decades of collaboration and experimentation. Emerging from the ashes of Mad Acid Enterprise, the band’s evolution is evident in their eclectic fusion of genres and refusal to be confined by conventional boundaries.
