Alexander Bravo aka SHRUBRAVO* really grabbed our attention with his new EP, “Benny’s Lagoon,” and we can’t get enough of it. This project really spoke to us and we knew we needed to share it with you.
The 5-track project is a great experience from start to finish and falls nothing short of perfection. These tracks will leave you stuck on constant repeat for a long time. If you’re a fan of this genre of music, you’re going to flip when you listen to this EP and you’ll have it on repeat for days. The atmosphere is unique, the melodies are catchy and the production and mixing are excellent. This artist has a distinctive style and his music is different and deserves to be heard by all people around the world. The quality of this project is interesting and regardless of what you’re a fan of, SHRUBRAVO* brings a great variety of styles and tastes to his music that will not only demand your attention but will keep you coming back for more. After listening to these tracks for a little less than a week, we already find ourselves humming along to these catchy melodies at random moments throughout the day. We really love what Alexander Bravo brought to the table today and can’t wait to hear more from him in the coming months, but until then, I suppose we’ll just have to keep this EP “Benny’s Lagoon” on repeat. ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Alexander Bravo’s solo project SHRUBRAVO* serves as his primary musical outlet. Focused on chilled-out songwriting informed by jazz, lo-fi and psych-pop, the San Diego native manages to run the gamut in all that is quirk-rock. His 2017 debut album Approachable explored themes on motivation, surfing, and fortune cookies, while veering in-and-out of various sonic realms akin to shoegaze and hip-hop. His 2018 follow-up album Too Approachable further delved into pop idioms and meditations on relationship conundrums, loneliness, and eating more green veggies. Both albums, co-produced by Zack Aguirre, showcase his DIY ethos and versatility as an instrumentalist and producer. His third album, titled Unapproachable, dives into a synth-laden pop world full of self-reflection, observational humor and his experiences local and abroad.
