Today, we’re diving into two of Laila Mack’s standout releases! First up, we’ll explore her debut EP, which dropped in May of last year. Stay tuned as we break down what makes these projects so special!
Her EP “reasons” is a heartfelt and energetic collection of tracks that perfectly showcases her talent as a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. From start to finish, the EP takes listeners on a journey through themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery, all wrapped in a pop-rock and alternative-rock sound that feels both fresh and nostalgic.
The EP kicks off with “lol” a high-energy track that immediately grabs your attention. Laila’s powerful and catchy vocals shine here, setting the tone for what’s to come. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to turn up the volume and sing along, even if you don’t know all the words yet.
Next up is the title track, “reasons” which dives into more emotional territory. The combination of heartfelt lyrics, emotional vocals, and strong guitar and drum work creates a track that feels raw and honest. It’s clear that Laila pours her soul into her music and this song is a perfect example of that.
The following tracks, “cheapskate” and “felon” slow things down a bit, focusing more on storytelling and lyrical depth. These songs explore the complexities of relationships and breakups, offering a more reflective side to the EP. While they may not have the same energy as the opening tracks, they still pack an emotional punch and show Laila’s versatility as an artist.
The EP closes with “u” and “nothing left to say” two tracks that bring back the powerful instrumentation and passionate vocals we heard at the beginning. “u” stands out with its dynamic sound, while “nothing left to say” feels like a fitting finale, leaving listeners with a sense of closure and a desire to hit replay.
Overall, reasons is a well-crafted EP that highlights Laila Mack’s passion for music and her ability to connect with listeners through her lyrics and voice. Her sound is a perfect fit for fans of pop-rock, and her honest delivery makes each track feel personal and relatable. Don’t miss our next post, a review of her latest cover of “Stick Season”. ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Hey, I’m Laila Mack. I’m a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. My battery runs on alternative rock and coffee. I was born in 2004 and grew up in Coatesville, PA, far enough out in the country that I could play my electric guitar as loud as I wanted. My first instrument was the violin, which I started playing when I was 3. I was homeschooled and taught myself everything I know about music. I released my debut self-produced single ‘half past three’ just last year when I was 19. When I’m not in the studio, I enjoy fiction writing, caffeinating, painting, and surfing NJ shores to Cocoa Beach FL!
