Dom Malin’s new single, “Tapping Out” is a heartfelt and deeply personal track that hits you right in the feels. We had this song on repeat for a while now and we can confidently say it’s one of the most captivating records we’ve heard in the last few months. From the production to the lyrics, everything about this song feels intentional and meaningful.
The song starts with a quiet, intimate vibe, just a simple guitar and piano combo that sets the tone for reflection. As it builds, layers of percussion, organ, and lead guitar come in, adding depth and intensity. It’s like the music itself is telling a story, rising and falling with the emotions of the lyrics. By the end, it strips back to just piano and vocals, leaving you with a sense of fragile hope. It’s a beautiful journey from start to finish.
The song is raw and honest. Dom sings about running from the past, carrying the weight of failure, and the loneliness that comes with unfulfilled expectations. Lines like “I bury the past like we bury trash” and “I’m all just a mess, out of sync with time” are so relatable, they capture that feeling of being lost and searching for solid ground. The chorus, “I’m tapping out” feels like a moment of surrender, but also acceptance. It’s not giving up, it’s acknowledging the struggle and finding a way to move forward.
Dom’s vocal performance is absolutely stunning. His rich, powerful voice carries so much emotion, making every word feel genuine and heartfelt. You can tell he’s pouring his soul into this song and it’s impossible not to be moved by it. The production and mixing are top-notch too, everything sounds crisp and clear, but still warm and inviting.
This song is a masterpiece. It’s beautifully written, expertly performed, and emotionally powerful. Dom Malin has truly outdone himself with this one and we can’t wait to see where his music takes him next. If you haven’t listened to it yet, do yourself a favor and hit play. Trust us, you won’t regret it.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Dom Malin has built his life around music. From acquiring his first electric guitar at 12-years-old, he has never let go of that childlike wonder and passion for creating music. He’s continually inspired by the potent connection between music and memory, how a song can transport you back to a certain time or place.
In his youth, a pivotal life moment happened at a school talent show where he performed Green Day’s iconic anthem ‘Time of Your Life’; driven by adrenaline, that evening he wrote his first song. Later, he cut his teeth busking around Birmingham, Bristol, and Manchester, as well as playing on every open mic he could find. He went on to study Music Performance at university, which not only led to Malin teaching music, but primarily it built his confidence in his own music. From session guitarist to solo act, he would go on to win the BBC Introducing Midlands Young Person talent contest and headline Wolvestock Country Music Festival at the impressive age of 17. He even created a limited pressing of his own demos on a four-track (Boss Micro BR), all produced by himself from the pressing to the recording to the artwork.
On several occasions, he has been the artist of the week for BBC Introducing Lincolnshire and gained support through numerous music platforms, including the veritable Mahogany. Dom Malin has boundless enthusiasm for playing live, having supported Paris Paloma on her 2023 UK tour, and supported Dermot Kennedy Sonder’s tour.
