“Inspired by a string of cheating ex-boyfriends, this song is a personal reflection on Damien’s jaded feelings about love. The lyrics of the song touch on how at 21 years old, Damien used to view the world and love from a very naive and innocent perspective. This naivety allowed Damien to be open, fearless and adventurous. Now, with certain negative experiences, he’s too cautious, too scared and bitter to approach new relationships in the fearless way he used to. Even though he protects himself now, he misses the person he used to be at 21. The track is about wanting to see the world the same way he did when he was 21. When his heart and eyes were open. When he saw the good in everyone.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

👋 Howdy – Damien here, Aussie in London. Writing songs cos it’s cheaper than therapy.
I’m a sucker for a good melody, a catchy chorus and a bass line that makes you feel dirty.
After releasing my debut track Hold Me in June, 2021, I quickly followed this up with a summer 80s inspired remix, which made it to BBC radio UK amongst many other radio plays. This was followed up by a feel good bop called ‘Why Do It Alone?’.

When I went to Nashville in March 2022, I got a tattoo with the words ‘What’s next?’. This is my regular reminder to make the most of life. To live it to the fullest. To fill it with the next adventure. Earlier this year, I released a song called ‘For Grandma’ – a song written for my grandma who lives far me in Australia.

My latest song is a track called I Used To Think That Everyone Was Faithful. Why is it called this? Well, after a few relationships, I feel pretty jaded by love. I remember the way I was at 21. Innocent, naive and so open for love and adventure. Now, with experience, I’m too cautious, too scared to fall, too bitter. While I’m protecting myself now, I miss the person I was at 21. This track is about wanting to see the world the same way as I did when I was 21, when my heart and eyes were wide open. When I saw the good in everyone. I’m LGBT and proud, no longer running from who I am, but running towards it. Maybe u can relate. Say hi on my social media channels x
