Conversation With Young Corrupt

Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?

A: From Vista California born and raised.what made me wanna start music i spent one summer when i was 15 and was bored and i would listen to a lot of music but one day i was just home all day so i decided to start writing music and i would spend hours looking up youtube videos on how eminem would write music and how most rappers would go on about creating music. I would spend every morning writing just whatever would come to my mind and days turned into months and that’s when my stuff just got better and better. That’s when I knew that if I would pursue this no matter what, I would go 100% into it.

Q: Did you have any formal training, or are you self-taught?

A: Self taught you know that saying ”practice makes perfect” yes that actually works.

Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences, and why the name ‘Young Corrupt’?

A: I would say my strongest influences were Eminem,Kendrick Lamar,Drake,Amine, and Joyner lucas.the name Young Corrupt was just something that came to my head at that time people had ”lil” and ”young” in their names so i just decided to be Young Corrupt.

Q: You have just released your new single, ‘Many times wasted’. Is there a story behind it?

A: The story about my song Many times wasted is pretty much about dating someone toxic you know having that feeling where you want to be with that person but you know their bad for you but your too stubborn to let them go i always tell people that i don’t really make songs personal but somehow i get lost in the writing process that just makes me sprinkle of that shit i’ve experienced.at the end of the day it has helped me cope with stuff like that by rapping it to yall

Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?

A: Right now i would say no but in the future of course as long as i have listeners waiting for it i would definitely release one.

Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?

A: My sound is energetic yet what i say could hit you like a brick wall, to me it’s all about having that emotion and passion when it comes to making music and its for anybody who’s gone through difficult times in life or who just want a place to escape i would say my music is for those who would want to listen to something that they can just relate to.pretty much music with meaning and soul.

Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it, or are you expecting something more?

A: It can never be enough i expect the most out of myself. It can be self destructive at times but I strive to be the best I can be, I kind of consider myself like an underdog you know someone who’s never heard of or who gets passed on.

Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?

A: I have a team who i’ve been working with my engineer mattew goldman, and Bleverly hills whos been making my beats for so long and i’m forever grateful for having them and helping me bring my music to life but how i go about it blev will send me a beat and i will go by how it feels it could be sad it could be fast or a really hype beat and i get into this conscious state where i’m not thinking but the lyrics flow out of me like water depending on how much i like the beat, i can finish a song in 2 days or it could take a week or two, what’s crazy blev names the beat and usually what i write just somehow matches with the name of the beat.

Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?

A: Life lately has just hit me but I’ve come to just accept it. We all go through obstacles in life but what matters is how you decide to take action and I chose to push through with my music and be completely selfish for what I want.

Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?

A: For me just hearing people fucking with me and my music is what i would think is a pretty proudful moment in my career but again im hungry and i feel like i can always be better making music and in life.
