Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: I’m Emmanuuel Priye Michael popularly known as OG EMMY, and I’m passionate about creating Afrobeat music. My musical journey has deep roots in my childhood. Growing up, I was surrounded by a diverse range of musical influences. My family’s love for music exposed me to various genres, from traditional African rhythms to contemporary hip-hop. This eclectic musical environment sparked my curiosity and ignited my passion for blending different styles to create my own unique sound. So, my childhood, filled with diverse musical experiences, has played a significant role in shaping the musical direction I pursue today.

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Emmy”?

A: I’m excited about sharing my music with the world! To grow my fan base, I plan to use a multi-faceted approach. First, I’ll leverage social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok to engage with my audience directly and share behind-the-scenes content. I’ll also collaborate with other artists to expand my reach.

As for the message I have for anyone about to discover “Emmy” I’d say this: My music is a reflection of my experiences, emotions, and the stories I want to share. I hope my music resonates with you on a personal level and brings joy, inspiration, or comfort to your life. Thank you for giving it a listen, and I can’t wait to connect with you through my music.

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration from: 

A :  Burna Boy. He’s known for blending Afrobeat with elements of reggae, dancehall, and hip-hop, creating a unique and globally appealing sound. Burna Boy’s music often carries messages of social and political significance, making him not only a talented artist but also an influential figure in contemporary music.

My inspiration comes from my  African heritage, drawing from the rich musical traditions, rhythms, and instruments of the continent. I also embrace global fusion by incorporating elements from different genres and cultures into my compositions. Life experiences, social and political issues, and collaborations with other artists all play a role in shaping my music. Additionally, the natural world and the environment can inspire my creative process.

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Black Girl Magic.”?

A: ‘Black Girl Magic’ is a song that celebrates the incredible beauty, strength, and resilience of black girls. It’s all about empowerment and recognizing the unique qualities that black girls bring to the world. The song aims to spread positivity and encourage self-confidence and self-love among black girls and women. It’s a tribute to their magic.

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A:  had to fuse hip hop and Afrobeats. That’s how I came up with my sound: ‘Afrofusion,’ the combination of hip hop and Afrobeats, as heard in songs like ‘KITKAT,’ ‘GBESE,’ and ‘Black Girl Magic’.”

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Black Girl Magic”?

A: No, I did not face any challenges writing or recording black girl magic because it came naturally and everything aligned in my favor towards this record.

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: The message of my music is deeply personal to me. I strive to connect with listeners on a meaningful level by conveying emotions and experiences that are relatable. Whether it’s through lyrics, melodies, or the overall atmosphere of my music, I aim to evoke feelings and provoke thought.

As an artist, my primary goal is to continue growing and evolving in my craft. I want to push boundaries and explore new musical horizons. Additionally, I aspire to connect with a diverse audience and create music that resonates with people from various backgrounds. Ultimately, I hope my music can inspire, uplift, and bring people together.

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A: I want to work with Drake ,Wizkid ,Chris Brown , Justin Beiber, Jay Z , Dj khaled. Etc. 

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: Be passionate and dedicated to music… “You show music love , music will show you love”. 

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A: I will tell myself that I should be careful of what I say because I can’t take back words. It’s okay to let go and finally Take things one at a time.
