Conversation With Kuill

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: I consider myself to be a working class musician. I grew up on multiple council estates and this definitely helped me write songs that reflected my upbringing.  I met lots of wonderful people growing up and that inspired the sort of music I write today.  

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Kuill”?

A: if you enjoy storytelling music and something under the surface then I’m probably the right musician for you! With me, sentiment and meaning comes before any gimmick. 

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?

A:  Id say Sam Fender simply because of the stories he is telling through music.  

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Sleeping Satellite.”?

A: Its a gorgeous song by Tasmin Archer.  For me its abut having the patience and mental strength to deal with pressure. In life and work and appreciating all the beautiful things around you.  

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A: Eclectic 

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Sleeping Satellite”?

A: Recording wise I wanted to pay homage to the original production and sound whilst adding a signature Kuill sound.  

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: my message is to enjoy and find meaning in what you love.  Meraki. My goals are to have bigger gigs each year and eventually so a full UK tour.  

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A:  Brandon Flowers, lead singer of The Killers. His solo work is exceptional and very me.

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: collaborate with everyone. And develop your sound dont be afraid to evolve,  and enjoy every minor thing.

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A: Enjoy your experiences. Dont stress and worry about the next thing. Be present
