Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?
A: Hey! We were born and bred in Brake, a small German town with wide fields and long beaches on the coast of the North Sea. We started to make music in young ages and we were inspired to make our own music by bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. The music of Nirvana and Pearl Jam were so pure, honest and authentic, it was different from all the other music that was around at that time. We wanted to do music with the same approach, to write songs as personal and honest as we can.
Q: And what other artists have you found yourself listening to lately?
A: We’ve been listening to a lot of Bon Iver, Chet Baker and Nick Drake lately.
Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences?
A: The first strong influence were defintely the music of the band ́s Pearl Jam and Nirvana. It was the magic of the grunge era the catched us deeply.
Q: You have just released your new single, ‘Only Love’. Is there a story behind it?
A: Yeah, there is a very personal and intense story behind “Only Love. It’s an attempt to leave things from the past behind to find yourself.
Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?
A: There will be a second part of “DAMN THE WILD AIR” and we will release a new album.
Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?
A: The key element is often what we started a song with. It could be an idea, a feeling or mood. If this feeling can grow in between the lines of lyrics and instruments, we are pretty happy. Soundwise we use quite a lot good reverbs and stuff/ instruments to create a wide, airy and emotional feeling.
Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it, or are you expecting something more?
A: Most of the time, … a yes!
Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?
A: Our creative process is always different from song to song. Sometimes there is an idea, that is revolving in our heads, and as we share it to each other and like it, we are starting to play it, jam it, feel it. Sometimes there is just a vibe or feeling we are in and we would like to bring into a song. In this case we just play. Often we play for hours and we record everything. After listening back to the recordings sometimes “true gems” as little snippets are coming to life.
Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?
A: With no doubt the time of the pandemic. Nothing more is was so demanding like that. But we think we are not the only ones, that was hitten hard by the lockdown and virus scenarios.
Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?
A: We got some really great songs we are very proud of, and one of them was featured in a Vodafone campaign which was quite big and that gave us kind of a sign that people are listening, and people are getting the vibe of the music and our intention behind it.
