Conversation With INTICA

Q: It’s been a while since you chatted with Bored City. Can you tell us what you’ve been up to since the release of RUN!?

A: Yes! I have been so busy, I am currently finishing up the songs for my EP so I have been nonstop creating new music and working on promoting my newest single RUN!

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “INTICA”?

A: LIVE SHOWS!! My favorite way to connect with my fans and gain new listeners is by playing live and meeting the people who support my music, there is a certain energy that comes when you’re in a room full of people who all share a passion for music. To the people who are about to discover INTICA, this is just the beginning, I want to bring people together, build a family, a community, a safe space for people to be themselves and find a home within this music.

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration formaking music?

A: I actually find inspiration a lot through finding new music, finding something different that pulls me in and captures my attention so I am constantly listening to new artists and music. I also find inspiration by reading and watching movies or tv, sometimes I even find a single word that sparks some inspiration and I use that to create a song! Recently I’ve been listening to ggwendolyn, Haiden, Gabriella Zauna, Devon Again, and a band called Honey Revenge for inspiration!

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “RUN!.”?

A: RUN! is about being overwhelmed with life, desperately questioning the future, enough to run away from it all. It’s a fresh start. It’s the feeling of freedom. It’s making decisions for yourself. It’s letting go of everything weighing you down.

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A: indecisive

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “RUN!”?

A: I did actually, the writing went pretty smoothly as well as the recording part but I was working with a producer on this song who was switching career paths and decided not to finish the song. It wasn’t great, I tried getting ahold of him every way possible but he had moved on. He was a super talented producer and I loved working with him but that is why I am putting this song out as a demo, it is not as good as it could’ve been but it’s definitely too good not to share with the world. This is one my favorite songs I have ever written and even in its non finished form it’s worth hearing.

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: My music has always been pretty vulnerable, I talk a lot about mental health, fear, questioning everything, and feeling unstable or feeling like an outcast in society. I hope by being honest with my lyrics and making the music that helps me, I will help someone else feel less alone in whatever they may be going through.

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A: oh man, I can’t even choose, I have a list of artists that I would LOVE to work with. I’d love to get on a song with Eminem, that would be legendary. A collab with Beauty School Dropout would be pretty sick, they have the catchiest hooks and I’d love to be on a project with them. YUNGBLUD is also an artist I could see myself collaborating with, he has the best energy and I think we could make something cool. I love creating with other artists so it’s a pretty long list!

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: Keep going, keep working toward your goals. In this industry it is so easy to give up but our idols didn’t make it big by giving up. It doesn’t happen overnight but every day you continue to push for your dreams is one step closer to living your dreams.

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A: I would tell younger me to start making music sooner. I was kind of a rebel and didn’t see myself having much of a future so finding something I was passionate about or focusing on my goals wasn’t really in my schedule, but if I could go back I would tell myself to start learning how to produce and write my own music. I would have some insane skills right now if I did that!
