Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?
A: I was born in London, UK, Wembley is my hometown and is where I spent most of my life growing up. I was instantly attracted to music as a baby and would always dance and listen to music around the house. I decided that I wanted to start a career in music after seeing Usher and Michael Jackson music videos on television.
Q: Did you have any formal training, or are you self-taught?
A: I’m mostly self-taught when it comes to dancing and singing but I still took dance classes and singing lesssons to improve my skills and become great at what I do.
Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences?
A: My earliest influences were Michael Jackson and Usher. I really admired how they entertained an audience, their visually appealing music videos and their bold fashion sense.
Q: You have just released your new single, ‘Getaway’. Is there a story behind it?
A: The storyline of the song was inspired by a situation one of my friends were going through and I decided to write a song about it with the goal of empowering people who listen to it. “Getaway” is about someone who is in a toxic relationship, I want that person to see their worth and want better for themselves.
Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?
A: Of course! i’m currently in the studio recording new songs for my upcoming EP, I am working with new producers and I’m so excited to share my new music with my fans.
Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?
A: My sound is strongly rooted in R&B with some elements of pop and my melodies are catchy, the beats I usually lean toward are upbeat and the songs that I write are relatable. When you listen to an Edidion song you can expect it to match your mood and get the party started.
Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it, or are you expecting something more?
A: I get alot of fulfillment from the creative process of my music honestly. When I write a new song, take it to the studio, work with the producer on it and build the song from scratch to an amazing finished product its a really nice feeling. Sometimes it can be discouraging when you work hard on a song, promote it as much as you can and believe in the song’s potential and it doesn’t do well commercially. Whenever I perform my songs live I get a strong reaction from the crowd, they’re smiling and dancing to my songs. The genuine love I get from the people is what I choose to dwell on, I no longer focus on the numbers although they are still really important.
Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?
A: I listen to the instrumental first and figure out how it makes me feel first and foremost. Then I start writing down what I want to talk about in the song and then i’ll start freestyling lyrics. I sometimes play chords or create a melody on my keyboard and build from there.
Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?
A: There have been sitautions where I have reached out to certain people that have the power to elevate my career , certain magazines, bloggers e.t.c. and i’ve gotten the door slammed in my face. Although it’s been upsetting at times to deal with i’m thankful for those moments because it has taught me alot and has developed my thick skin.
Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?
A: I was recently given the opportunity to headline my own show in London for the first time, I have a flyer with my photo on it and i’m being supported by other artists. I will be performing a 30 minute set and this is my chance to really show the world how much I love music and how much I enjoy entertaining people.
