Conversation With D’SO NYCE

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: I grew up in the south suburbs of chicago. I didn’t move to the city until i got older but i would always try to find my way during my younger years whether trying to see girls or go to a studio. I’ve always been into sports and music as a kid. Watching BET & MTV growing up just made me what to become an artist more and more.

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “D’SO NYCE”?

A: I’m continuing to learn the business side everyday and finding new ways or outlets to promote myself. Networking with different artists and media members have also helped me and i plan to keep reaching out to more outside of my city. I currently have someone helping me with PR in LA. I want my fans to see the hard work and dedication i give to make sure they are apart of this journey as well.

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?

A: Curren$y, He has been at it a decade plus with a strong label he started and consistent fan base. if i could even get 10% of that i would be honored. My kids and younger self motivate me. To prove you can achieve your dreams if you really want and nobody can stop you but you.

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “SHOW OFF.”?

A: Show Off is a song about a love story that is on the rocks because of indecisions one may have. Ultimately they’re bound to be together but we all need reassurance at times and nothing shows that more than marriage.

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A: Smooth!

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “SHOW OFF”?

A: Nope, once I heard the beat I let it marinate in my mind and the words just flowed out. This became one of my favorite records because i got famous Atlanta Poet Big Rube to do a poem for me over the beat as an intro on my album so stay tuned.

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: My main message is stay true to yourself , be smooth, stay out the way and make a way for you and your family. I want to grow a loyal fan base that i want to provide good music for the rest of my career.

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A: Curren$y, Larry June, Benny The Butcher & J.Cole, really too many to name so i’ll end there

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: Never stop. Find your sound and own it.

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A: Don’t let up and be more responsible with your time. Stay consistent and you’ll see the results.
