Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: Hey, I’m just Anime-Marvel fan who likes to make to music haha. My childhood was always around music, singers to be exact. My grandma & grand dad started out as church choir singers. My mom can sing as well. I was raised on Michael Jackson then later hip hop took over. My big cousin, P. Coles, heard the potential in me. Once I turned 18 and that’s when he brought me to the studio. Now here we are.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Dre Dior”?
A: networking, always make music that would touch the hearts of others. For my Hip Hop heads to the people who loves a dope story.
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: I was always inspired by Kendrick Lamar since I first heard a verse by him in 2011. From music, interviews & live performances.
My inspiration comes from whatever mood I’m feeling. The sound of the beat that, my homie Brodie Casanova, makes when he’s in production mode. Other than being a dope artist & producer, he’s a good support system. Not afraid to tell me if a track isn’t hitting, haha.
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the album, “The Soul Purpose.”?
A: The Soul Purpose is a self reflection project. For the people who’s been watching me grow as an artist could tell you that I’m in a metamorphosis phase. So this album is another stage within my life.
My message for this project would be to find your purpose. Everything that you wanted to do or wanted to be may not happen, so always have a back up plan, that may be your true calling.
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: encouraging
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “The Soul Purpose”?
A: yes, the biggest challenge was how can I speak on my vulnerability, and make the music catchy or fun. That was one of my main focuses this time around. But, the vulnerable topics were touchy for me, as well.
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: Never be stagnant. Always be uncomfortable until you are. My goal is to produce whatever I want, whenever I want but the reception is getting all over the world. Working with many artists.
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A: Alive: Busta Rhymes, Method Man, Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, SZA, Ari Lennox, etc. too many to name one.
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: if you’re just doing it for money, stop. For the true artists, study the game and make your own lane.
Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: leave that girl alone lol. Musically, get out there, you are kind of good at something haha.
